Karen Peters, Dane County Clerk, will provide multi-municipality Special Registration Deputy (SRD) training at 5 PM on Wednesday July 11 at the Fitchburg Community Center, 5520 Lacy Road (a block & a half east of Fish Hatchery Road).
The LWVDC is thrilled with the response to our offer of multi-municipality SRD training. Initially we had a room that would hold 50 people. We had to close registration at 88.
Communities represented at the training include:
- Towns of Deerfield, Dunn, Middleton, and Springdale
- Villages of Cambridge, Mazomanie, and Brooklyn
- Cities of Fitchburg, Madison, and Middleton
Other communities will accept the training, but not be available to swear people in as SRD's this evening. Directions for being deputized by these municipalities will be available at the training.
What is an SRD? State law allows a qualified elector of Wisconsin to apply to any Municipal Clerk to be appointed as a Special Registration Deputy (SRD) for the purpose of registering electors of that municipality prior to 5 pm the 20th day before an election. Qualified electors are US citizens, age 18 or older, have lived in Wisconsin for at least 28 consecutive days, and have not been disqualified to vote in Wisconsin.
